COLONIAL
Addition/Renovation
Belmont
This gracious house offered limited comfort for a family of four with a single bathroom on the upper floor. Already planning a renovation of the first floor sunroom, the owners decided to take the opportunity to add a master bathroom above it.
They envisioned it spacious and flooded with light, while intimate, with a convenient washer and dryer. A double wall at the street side created a private toilet space, and on the rear side an intimate soaking tub overlooking a backyard with a stately tree. The main bathroom space remained private, roomy and full of light, while providing generous storage with a full wall of cabinetry surrounding a double sink.
One side of the large master bedroom was designated as an open walk-in closet, with a window added for light and views. Built-ins were added throughout. On the stair hall side, a linen closet, hampers, and ironing board storage were added for convenient use by the whole family. We participated in the required zoning relief process.
The exterior of the addition was designed to blend in and complement the existing style of the house.
