COLONIAL

Addition/Renovation/Refacing

Waltham

A comprehensive renovation of the house was triggered by a major interior flooding. A family with young kids and an ageing grandparent used the opportunity to add much needed space to the house and fully update it inside and out.

The first floor addition provided a cozy family room and the second floor addition became the kids' bedrooms.

We worked within very limited spaces to achieve flexibility of use for the dynamic family. The kitchen was redesigned and directly connected with the living room through a new cased opening. The family room was planned for multiple uses, as an office or a guest room by the grandparent, with a nearby guest bath. The second floor bedrooms were designed for armoires in place of closets, to allow a variety of room uses as the family needs change. A room was added as a private study/work space.

The exterior look was inspired by the owner's recent trip to Vermont, adding warmth and character to the property.
