STOREFRONT & LOBBY
New Storefront Design/
Lobby Gut Renovation
Back Bay, Boston
When the upper floors of the beautiful historic Boylston Street building received a new modern spa and salon tenant, its Exeter street entry and lobby were the only outdated spaces remaining in the building. We were asked, because of our extensive experience with the historic high-end Back Bay renovations, to upgrade them as well.
The existing storefront was completely replaced with a modern glass and stainless steel door, surrounded by new windows to match the existing historic architecture in proportion, detail and color.
The interior, serving as an elevator lobby and an ADA egress to both the first and upper floors, was opened up and maximized in height. A long narrow space was lightened up with Italian marble floors, a fresh shade of French gray, stainless steel strip details, sparkling Venetian plaster, large lighting fixtures, and bronze and stainless steel elevator interiors.
Historic and modern styles were blended with details as well, with all custom millwork, handrails with stainless steel brackets, and a glass directory.
