Tradesman Coffee Shop & Lounge
Financial District, Boston
When a space in the Hilton Hotel became available, the Tradesman owner, who was already running a restaurant in the hotel, asked us to work with him on this unique opportunity to create both a comfortable hotel lounge and a distinct neighborhood coffee shop in one place.
We laid out a plan to allow convenient flow and egress for both the street and the hotel lobby entries, provide bathrooms, comfortable seating and maximize the allowed capacity.
The multifunctionality and flexibility of the space was maximized by having two bars and a movable seating area to allow for events and dancing. One side of the bar was designated as a daily coffee shop, serving sandwiches and pastries fresh baked in the restaurant, and the other as a bar, allowing active evening use and extended comfort to hotel guests.
With its multifunctionality, a unique branding by the owner and a distinct interior design, Tradesman quickly became a popular local spot.
